The class was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by David Lee leading song on page 76b. David Lee and Clarke Lee led song on page 68b (walked time), and the morning prayer was offered by Mel Kersey. David Lee and Clarke Lee welcomed everyone, and then led the class in singing the scale.

David Lee introduced Mrs. Lee Herrin and gave an account of her late husband, School Superintendent Herschel Herrin, who, along with Silas Lee, started the Hoboken School Singing in the late 1940’s. Mrs. Herrin spoke of her experiences with this singing tradition and requested we sing 492 in memory of Mr. Herschel. David Lee spoke of Mr. Melvin Hickox and many other beloved singers who are no longer with us. Mrs. Roxie Chesser Crawford, 94 years old, came to the square and led “Land of Beulah” with Clarke Lee. She made a few remarks about her lifelong love and dedication to this singing tradition. By request of Roy Harris and Patsy Harris, David Lee led song on page 358.

Clarke Lee brought the afternoon session to order leading song on page 159 (by special request).
