The tenth annual Los Angeles Regional Sacred Harp Singing was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Rick Russell leading song on page 52t, followed by Laura Boyd Russell 30t; and Larry Arnstein 299. Thich Nu Chon Duc offered the opening prayer.

A business meeting was held with the following officers elected or appointed to serve: Chairman—Duncan MacLeod; Vice Chairman—Rick Russell; Secretary—Norman Gholson; Arranging Committee—Marilyn Murata, Lindy Hill, and Mary Rose O’Leary; Treasurer—Duncan MacLeod; Finance Committee—Betty Herman; Memorial Committee—Laura Boyd Russell and John Rand; Resolutions Committee—Carla Smith; Chaplains—Thich Nu Chon Duc and Jeff Van Der Wilt.

A business meeting was held to hear reports from various committees.

Betty Herman gave a report on behalf of the Finance Committee.

Treasurer Duncan MacLeod reported that contributions met and exceeded expenses.

On behalf of the Resolutions Committee, Carla Smith read the Resolutions Report concerning many gifts to be thankful for:

  • Thanks were given to the Creator for the gift of life;
  • The singers who have gone on before for the gift of a great tradition;
  • The local singers for hosting a day of singing;
  • The out of town singers for their attendance
  • The Angels Gate Cultural Center for the great singing space; and
  • The cooks for a great lunch.

Announcements for upcoming singings were made. Secretary Norman Gholson reported that 67 songs were led. Those in attendance were from San Francisco, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Redlands, and Los Angeles, California.

Duncan MacLeod closed the singing leading song on page 276 as the closing song. Jeff Van Der Wilt offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
