The fourth annual Sacred Harp singing which is held at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church on the second Sunday in August was called to order by Chairman Kenneth Tate leading 49t. Danny Creel offered the opening prayer.

The class organized for the day and voted to retain the following officers: Chairman—Kenneth Tate; Vice Chairman—Wilton Donaldson; Secretary—Josie Hyde; Arranging Committee—Ivalene Donaldson.

The class resumed singing with Kenneth Tate leading 171.

Kenneth Tate introduced the class to a group from California who is making a documentary on Hank Williams. The group was composed of Morgan Neville—Director; Dylan Robertson—Technical; and Colin Escott—Script. The purpose of their being with us was to hear and record songs from the Sacred Harp. The first singing school Hank Williams attended was a shape note school that was taught in Avant, Alabama. Kenneth Tate was asked to lead 48t. The documentary is scheduled to appear on Alabama Public Television in June 2004 and in England on the BBC network.
