Questions
History, Traditions, Music, Resources, etc.
Most common questions about Sacred Harp and Shape Note singing traditions can be answered by materials that you can find by following the links on this web site. In the event that you still can’t find an answer to your questions, several kind volunteers from the singing community have signed up to answer them.
Our volunteers will answer any questions you post to the Fasola Questions group at Google:

In particular, volunteers are ready to help you with questions about:
- History of Sacred Harp singing or other Shape Note singing traditions.
- Aspects of traditional Sacred Harp singing.
- Particular hymns, or any musicological issues.
- The maps to singings.
- Sacred Harp resources such as books and recordings. Be sure to check the Resources page, especially the Sacred Harp and Related Resource Guide before sending a resource-related question.
We will try to make sure your question is answered by at least one volunteer. Sometimes additional volunteers will chime in with a different perspective or further information.
