All-California Sacred Harp Singing Convention 2012

Welcome

The 24th Annual All-Califoria Sacred Harp Singing Convention will be held on the third Sunday and Saturday before in January (Jan 14-15), 2012.

We will have two full days of singing from the 1991 revision of the Sacred Harp, both at the Casa de Flores, 737 Walnut St. in San Carlos, California [map].

Schedule

The schedule for both days will be

9:00-9:30: Registration
9:30-noon: Morning singing
noon-1:00: Dinner on the grounds
(Bay Area Singers: please bring a substantial dish to share.)
1:00-3:00: Afternoon singing

Saturday Composium
3:30pm
We will sing new compositions in the style of the Sacred Harp.
Also at the Casa de Flores.
Compositions can be submitted to Julian at juliandamashek/at/gmail/dot/com.
Saturday Evening Social
At the home of a local singer.
Flyer with directions will be provided at the singing.
Monday daytime activity:
Local hike and singing. Flyer with directions available at the singing.
Monday regular UC Berkeley singing: 7:30-9:30pm at All Saints Chapel in Berkeley

Transportation

Casa de Flores is only three blocks from the San Carlos CalTrain station. You can easily transfer to Caltrain from BART at the Millbrae station.

Southwest Airlines often has very good fares from many cities to Oakland and San Jose, and now flies to San Francisco, which is just minutes from the convention.

The hotel is about 15 minutes south of the San Francisco airport, 30 minutes north of the San Jose airport, and 35 minutes from the Oakland airport.
