Etowah County Sacred Harp Singing

The annual Wall Memorial Sacred Harp Singing was held at George Wallace Senior Citizen Center in Glencoe, Alabama on the third Sunday in March. Bud Oliver called the class to order leading songs on pages 32t and 82t. Dennis George offered the morning prayer.

Leaders: Bud Oliver 30t; Rodney Ivey 142, 137; Henry Johnson 29b, 375; Mattie Townsel 145b, 313t; Jarrod George 59, 358; Evelyn Harris 39b, 89; Lamar Smith and Randall Smith 36b, 76b.

RECESS

The class resumed singing with Bud Oliver leading song on page 37b.

A business session was held with the following officers elected or appointed to serve: Chairman—Bud Oliver; Vice Chairman—Rodney Ivey; Secretary—Shelbie Sheppard; Arranging Committee—Jackie Tanner.

A motion was made and seconded to change the name of the singing from the “Wall Memorial Singing” to the “Etowah County Sacred Harp Singing.” The class voted unanimously for the change, and hereafter this singing will be named the “Etowah County Sacred Harp Singing.” End of business session.
