The first annual Maquoketa River Sacred Harp Singing opened at 9:30 a.m. with a singing school led by P. Dan Brittain, who gave a brief guide in how to sing the notes. The following songs were led by Day Brittain to use as illustrations: 209, 425, 49t, 49b, 87, 45t, 57, 65, 441, 376, 81 (t? b?), and 21 (JB).

RECESS

Michael Moore called the class to order leading song on page 34b, and then offered the morning prayer.
