The September Sacred Harp singing held at Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Chairman Milford Cobbs who welcomed everyone and led song on page 46. Elder J.L. Hopper offered the morning prayer. Leaders and selections were as follows: J.L. RECESS

The class was reassembled by Milford Cobbs leading 358. LUNCH

After enjoying a bountiful lunch and sweet fellowship, the class was called back to order for the afternoon session by Milford Cobbs leading 127.

A memorial session was held. Jonathon Thompson and Brandon Thompson led 383 in memory of Willard and Annie Mae Holmes, and 384 in memory of Willard Hopper. Judy Caudle led 459 in memory of Bera Bradford, A.A. Malone, Lavaughn Ballinger, and Ruth Brown.

Ben Bradford gave a short history of the September singing at this place, quoting information he had received from Uncle Herbert Cobbs. He said the singing was begun in 1886 after the school building was constructed on this site. The first chairman of this singing was 18-year-old Jess Woodard. The singing held on this date, September 28, 2003, is the 118th session to be held at Gum Pond. Thank you, Ben.
