The 88th session of the South Georgia Sacred Harp Singing Convention was called to order by Wesley Haley leading 59. The opening prayer was offered by David Grant. Wesley Haley led 391.

RECESS

Wesley Haley brought the class together leading 34b. Leaders: Judy Chambless 159, 274t; Sharon Hamrick 40, 276; Malinda Snow 178, 313t; Patty Danza 155, 46; Bentley McGuire 95, 344; Helen Bryson 72t, 215; Morgan Bunch 492, 384.

A business session was held with the following officers confirmed for 2008: President—Wesley Haley; Vice President—Oscar McGuire; Secretary/Treasurer—Mary Brownlee; Assistant Secretary/Treasurer—Rita Haley; Chaplain—Wayne S. Watson; Assistant Chaplain—David Grant.

The list of singings scheduled for the coming year were reviewed and confirmed; the Georgia State Convention will be held at Emmaus Primitive Baptist Church in Carrollton, Georgia, on the fourth Sunday and Saturday before in March, 2008.

Hugh McGraw made a motion to print and distribute some of Raymond Hamrick’s unpublished songs. The business session was concluded with the Treasurer’s Report.

LUNCH

The memorial lesson was conducted by Mary Brownlee leading 556 in memory of Mrs. Runelle Crawford, Olin Gresham, and Winnie Gresham who passed away in 2007.

Helen Bryson led 225t to remember the sick and shut-ins.
