The annual Harper Memorial Sacred Harp Singing was held at Old Flatwoods Primitive Baptist Church on the second Sunday in October. The class was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Philip Gilmore extending greetings to everyone and leading 33b and 56t. The morning prayer was offered by Richard Mauldin. Philip Gilmore led 64.

The class was organized with the following officers retained for another year: Chairman—Philip Gilmore; Vice Chairman—John Harper Gilmore; Secretary—Jimmie Gilmore; Arranging Committee—Arthur Gilmore.

The memorial lesson was conducted by Jimmie Gilmore and Philip Gilmore. Glenn Keeton led 47b in memory of the following deceased: Dick Mauldin, Flarce Creel, Marie Guthrie; Heath Jett, Wilton Donaldson, John Hyde, B.J. Harris, Herby Bailey, Cecil Wakefield, Opal Tanner, LaRue Allen, Mary Ballinger, Geneva Horton, and Teresa Earnest.

Jimmie Gilmore and Philip Gilmore led 348b in honor of the following sick and shut-ins: Milton Oliver, Gladys McGraw, Edith Tate, Amanda Denson, Pauline Childers, Clayton Ezell, Elder W.G. McGough, Mamie Noles, Elder Homer Benefield, Felton Denney, Josephine Denney, L.H. Gilmore, Estelle Gilmore, Willodean Barton, and Beau Caldwell. The memorial was closed with prayer offered by Marlin Beasley.
