The first Leeds Sacred Harp Singing Day was held at South Parade Baptist Church, Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Cath Tyler began the day by leading 47t. John Copperwheat welcomed the class, and offered the opening prayer. Chris Brown led 49t, and invited Michael Walker to commence a singing school. He led 28b, 162, and 131b. Cath Tyler led 107, 274t, and 29b.

The following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman—Chris Brown; Vice Chairman—Judy Whiting; Secretaries—Cath Ingham and Trish Bater.

RECESS

Chris Brown called the class to order by leading 503. Leaders; Sally Greaves-Lord 34b; Ted Brown 49b; Anna Baldini 159; Cath Tyler 99; Jenneith Codrington 95; Trish Bater 47b; Vicki Elliot 268; Tom Greig 117; Lizzie Dye 523. Rev. Brian Nicholls gave thanks for the noon meal.

LUNCH

Sally Greaves-Lord called the class back to order leading 63. Leaders: Cath Ingham 155; Tom Greig 86; Martyn Boddy 270; Nigel Bowley 204; Anna Baldini 474; Margaret Gillanders 549.

Ted Brown spoke for the following sick and housebound: Maria Wallace, Shirley Figura; Sharon Kelham, Donald Walker, Ella Baldini, Dorothy Stevens, Eric Tindal, Joe Taylor, and Andrea Toth.

He conducted the memorial lesson and read the following list of names of the deceased: John Rushton, Sally Crake, George O’Brien, Katie Edmeade, Fiona Holroyd, Jean Dean, Gary Nelmes, Bud Oliver, Violet Thomason, Monica Ross, and Alexandra Bloom. Ted led 566, and offered prayer.

There was a business meeting in which it was agreed to reconvene in 2014.

Chris Brown, Judy Whiting, John Copperwheat and Arja Copperwheat led 323t as the closing song. Arja Copperwheat offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
