The annual Sacred Harp singing at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Ashland, Alabama, was held on the first Sunday in May. Some singers arrived early, and sang the following hymns from the Lloyd’s Hymnal: 333 (LD), 340 (LD), 300 (LD), 530 (LD), 188 (LD) (for M.B. Forbes), 339 (LD), and 342 (LD) (in memory of Elvadie Wallace).

The class was called to order by Eugene Forbes leading 75 and 155. The opening prayer was offered by Richard Mauldin.

The class was organized by electing or appointing the following officers to serve: Chairman—Eugene Forbes; Vice Chairman—Jack Nelson; Secretary—Edna Phillips; Arranging Officer—Myrline Redmon.

The memorial lesson was conducted by Richard Mauldin. He led 446 in honor of the following sick and shut-ins: Mona Nelson, Floy Wilder, Willodean Barton, Edward Lawrence, Ed Henry, Joan Henry, Kermit Adams, B.M. Smith, Earlis McGraw, Louis Bowman, Tommy Futral, and Nell Estes. Richard spoke, and led 410t in memory of the following deceased: Gib Amason, Azilee Adams, George Garner, and Mary Simms. Bro. Ken Milner closed the memorial lesson, and asked a blessing on the noon meal.

LUNCH

The afternoon session began with Eugene Forbes leading 186. Eugene Forbes and Jack Nelson led 46 as the closing song. Jack Nelson offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
