Minutes of Sacred Harp Singings

The 5th annual John and Loraine Bayer Memorial Singing was held at Bear Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Meeting House. Songs were sung from The Sacred Harp, 1991 Edition, as well as a book of John Bayer’s compositions, The Dayton Harmonist, noted as DH. Jim Herr called the class to order leading 39b, welcomed all in attendance, and thanked the hosting congregation. The morning prayer was offered by Ray Rechenberg.

Ray Rechenberg led the class in a memorial lesson remembering the sick and shut-ins which were Brenda Watters, John Brazitis, Allan Lutes, Antero Alli, Beegie Rechenberg, Steve Duff, Sue Duff, Mike Bennett, Hadley Bean, Jubal Bayer, Violet Bayer, and Loraine Bayer. Adrian Eldridge followed with a memorial lesson for the deceased, remembering Darrell Swarens in particular, Becky Brown—Missouri; Eva Striebeck—Germany; Peter Wilson—New York; Dave Brown—Washington; Len Chandler—California; Pete Sutherland—Vermont; Jaime Gans, Prudy Duff, and Connie Crabtree—Ohio. They led 111b, and Adrian closed the lesson in prayer.
